What does "midi panic"?

What does "midi panic"? I could not see a benefit. I think it is unnecessary. confusing thing. also sometimes VanBasco gets invalid processing when I use its shortcut.

Re: What does "midi panic"?

MIDI Panic is the last resource you have to silence all the channels in case of crash/hang/error of your MIDI client/player.
Suppose you're on stage and your MIDI client crashes or loops becoming out of control.
With MIDI panic you can immediately silence and reset the MIDI device.

You should not use it while playing because MIDI panic resets all MIDI settings ang configuration, so you loose GM/XG settings, controller settings, bank selections and more.
After a MIDI reset the MIDI should be restarted from scratch...

Excuse my curiosity This term is very meaningless in my country. Can I translate as "Reset the midi device"

Re: What does "midi panic"?

Well, MIDI Panic is a slang term that musicians should be used to.
The first time I saw it was (AFAIR) on Cakewalk, to immediately shut off all hanging notes.
Actually all notations and composer softwares have such feature, like Finale and Sibelius.

I don't really know if there's a better translation in your language; in Italian (my native language) the english form is commonly accepted...
