Version 1.5.0 released.

Could you all test it and confirm it works ok?

I replied so quickly because... I already had the fix available ;)

Yes, you could install the new version over the existing one.
If the DLL cannot be updated because they're in use then a reboot is required, so please close as much programs as you can.

Wow, thx for your prompt answer!  Just a question: can I install the new version over the existing one, or should I uninstall the existing version first?

Re: Not all the metadata shows in Windows Explorer with PDF Extension Installed

Attached here you'll find 1.5-beta3 versions of both PDFPropertyExtension and PdfPropertyExtensionTest.

@bura: these versions correctly parses all of your files but Open_data_White_Paper.pdf.
This PDF 1.6 file has encrypted metadata section: it can be read without password but that section needs to be decrypted beforehand.

PDFPropertyExtension does not actually support encrypted files (with or without password) and adding such feature requires a huge lot of work, so I can't promise I'll add in the near future.

Re: Not all the metadata shows in Windows Explorer with PDF Extension Installed

Hi Bura, thanks for your files.

Sadly (or luckily) PDF is one of the oldest file formats around, and it had a lot of improvement, additions, new features.
Following all of them could be a nightmare.
My extension is not using any of the already existing PDF libraries around, to keep it ligtweight and independant.

Will have a look to your files ASAP.

PS: upload limit is 2MB per attachment, and you could attach up to 5 files.
Anyway now I've increased it to 5MB per single attachment.

Re: Not all the metadata shows in Windows Explorer with PDF Extension Installed

Hi,

I thought I'd try again seeing the recent update from Claudio. I run the PdfPropertyExtensionTest.zip and I've attached the sample files that crashed.

Again this looks like the PDFProperty Extension is not parsing some of the older PDF Formats correctly. I'm not sure if I attached all the formats for you to test. They range from PDF version 1.0 to 2.0.

Anyways hopefully with what I provided you can resolve this issue. I could not attach everything cause there is a 2 MB limit.

Thanks

Re: Not all the metadata shows in Windows Explorer with PDF Extension Installed

Thank you very much for the new beta version. At this moment I am using this version and works perfect.

If I found any other issue, I will upload again the file with the problem.

Thanks again.

Re: Not all the metadata shows in Windows Explorer with PDF Extension Installed

Thanks for your sample files, it really helped me a lot to fix a subtle buffer-overflow caused by some highly compressed PDF Objects.

Attached here you'll find version 1.5.0-beta2, together with an updated version of the test tool (to be used only in case of issues).

Please let me know if everything works as expected.
