Changes between the two versions you reported mostly regards external components (BASS libraries) and translations (they are text files, so no problems here).

I hope you're able to make a test for me, to confirm that the malfunction is related to external libs:

  • install VMS version 1.12
  • open folder C:\Windows\System32\VirtualMIDISynth (and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\VirtualMIDISynth) and make a copy (ZIP) of files BASS.dll and BASSMIDI.dll
  • now install VMS 1.13.2
  • reopen folders below and overwrite BASS.dll and BASSMIDI.dll installed by 1.13.2 with the one of 1.12 you've archived before (you should be an admin to replace files into that folders)
  • run Windows Media Player and see if the issue disappears

I have the same problem on VMWare, using Windows Vista

I tried using the 1.12 with the DLLs from the 1.13.2, it just works fine, but the problem reappears if I use the 1.13.2 with the 1.12 DLLs

Conflict with EMET (enhanced mitigation experience toolkit)

Previous version (1.12) was ok

1.13.2 triggers a "Caller" (ROP Caller) violation in EMET, in Windows Media Player (Windows 7, EMET 5.2 - using EMET's own program lists).

Unchecking the Caller mitigation allows it to run successfully
