If a password is set, most of the times metadata is encrypted too so there's no way for an external parser to extract its content.
Does Adobe Reader show that data (without entering a password)?
Could you post a sample file here?

Hi,
Brilliant piece of software been looking for this for ages.. but i am having simular issue.
In acrobat there is a setting for don't encrypt metadata, this still won't work any help greatfully recieved!

Is the metadata visible if you open it with Adobe Reader (with no password given)?
Could you please send me a sample protected file with unprotected metadata (the smallest the better)?

Thanks for your sample file.
I've just released version 1.8.0.
It can read encrypted PDF files with unencrypted metadata.
