This is OT: we're talking about VMS1 here.

Re: 64-bit driver not updating properly

Unfortunately it didn't work. Same problem as before! :-(

The Comodo process is called "cis.exe".

Re: 64-bit driver not updating properly

Thanks for your detailed bug report and sorry for the late reply.

I found an issue in setup procedure that prevents the correct after-reboot tasks to complete, so the automatic rename was not done.
It'll be fixed into next version. Attached here you'll find 1.17-beta1 to test.

Please confirm if it works.

It should be great to know the process name that's locking the driver, so I can add it to the driver internal blacklist and you'll never need to reboot anymore.

64-bit driver not updating properly

For the last few versions I have had to update the 64-bit driver manually after installation. I use Comodo Internet Security and when installing VirtualMIDISynth the installer reports that CIS is locking a file that will be updated. After installation I reboot, but when testing only the 32-bit driver has been updated, the 64-bit is still the old version. So I have to go into C:\Windows\SysWOW64\VirtualMIDISynth\ and manually rename VirtualMIDISynth.dll to something else, the rename the .tmp file to VirtualMIDISynth.dll. After that everything works as it should and both drivers are the right version. This I have to do even though I rebooted after installation. It has been this way since at least version 1.15.0.
I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit.
