Usual suggestions here:
- double check that all of your system drivers are updated, mostly chipset and sound card ones
- post here any error shown, even the ones in Event Viewer
- post the debug report of VMS: Configurator --> About --> Debug report

It happen just now. No sound everywhere. YT dont play videos.
Looks like audio connestions are lost. Restart audio service, all things works again.
I don't found any error message about windows audio.

Please confirm first of my suggestions (updated drivers).
Do you by any chance have a Realtek soundcard?
If yes, I founc a lot of users experiencing similar issues with audio service like this: https://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/328378-windows-audio-service-cra...
In case of Realtek chipset, you must double check your soundcard drivers and confirm you've installed the ones provided by motherboard vendor and not the ones downloaded from realtek website.

Please confirm first of my suggestions (updated drivers). They was updated to latest versions what are possible.
Do you by any chance have a Realtek soundcard? No it's not realtek. Onboard soundcard (whatever it is) are denied in bios. It is M-Audio Firewire 410 , connested ower Dawicontrol DC-FW800 interface.
Today 27.04. 2017 this issue doesn't happen.
Thank

Had the same weird thing. Happened after installing v2. Audio portion of the OS died causing any application/OS functions which have audio to hang which basically stalled windows. Had to hard boot everytime to recover. Have Win 7 Ultimate. Newest driver, uses the Nvidia HDMI sound on the video card (960). Ininstalled v2 and back to v1.7 and everything is fine on the system.

Could you both please try to add VMS foders and driver to your antivirus exclusion list?
I've seen that VMS (till 2.0.1) emits an error message when the driver or one of its components is not available (the file exists but is locked by the AV when loaded); this could lead the process loading it to hang waiting for the message box to be clicked... but if the process has no screen (like the audio service) it could hang indefinitely.
The files/folders to exclude are these:
- (folder) C:\Program Files\VirtualMIDISynth
- (folder) C:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualMIDISynth
- (file) C:\Windows\System32\VirtualMIDISynth.dll
- (file) C:\Windows\System32\VirtualMIDISynth.dll
