Thanks for reporting it, well done!

That folder contains the required encoders executables used by VMS MIDI Converter feature.
They won't be distributed together with VMS due to its licensing.
Anyway you gave me a good suggestion: will add a README.txt file in that folder at setup time to explain its (missing) content.

Re: VirtualMidiSynth won't start, all sound on my PC doesn't work!

Well, I managed to fix the issue that disabled all audio on my PC. Only problem is that I had to completley uninstall VMS, using the manual uninstallation guide present on the FAQ and then restart.

VirtualMidiSynth won't start, all sound on my PC doesn't work!

I was using the latest stable version of VMS when all of a sudden, it just began popping up with this error upon starting.

"An error occured opening output device for MIDI device VirtualMIDISynth #1.

Error code: -1

Description: BASS_ERROR_UNKNOWN: Unknown problem!"

which is followed up with

"Error initializing BASS libraries, aborting"

I tried going back to the previous stable version, but the problem still persisted. I then went to Un4seen to try and download the BASS libraries nessecary for the program, and put them into it.

I noticed the encoder folder is completley empty? Which is bizarre. But still, even when I put all the nessecary libraries into the correct places, the error still persisted.

I am absolutely confused, and have uninstalled and reinstalled VMS multiple times trying to fix this problem, to no avail. Even more confusing is my suspected correlation between this and the absence of sound on my computer. Could someone with more tech-savviness help out here?
