Maybe the MIDI devices were resetted during the upgrade.
You could try to fix it by removing and reinstalling VMS again.
PS: before trying this workaround, it will be great if you could export some registry keys and let me check them.
The keys that should be exported with regedit.exe are these:
- Open a command prompt (open start menu, write cmd then click on cmd.exe result)
- Run these commands (copy/paste them to cmd.exe window):
- cd %homepath%\desktop
- reg export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32" export32.reg
- reg export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32" export64.reg
- Now you should have 2 new files on your desktop: export32.reg and export64.reg
- Compress them to a ZIP file and post them here
If you are able to do it we can confirm if something deleted VirtualMIDISynth driver configuration.

Hi,
thanks for the quick response.
I tried to deinstall/install the versions 1.15.0, 1.15.1 and 2.0.0alpa24 (all with reboot) with the same result.
I use Windows 10 1511 32bit.
The first export command failed, because the key could not be found.
The result of the second export command is attached.
Let me know, if i can do more...

That's OK only if your OS is 32bit.
What's your player?
Could you please try with a player that allows MIDI putput selection, like VanBasco?
NOTE: beware that VanBasco setup must be forcibly run with administrator privileges, even if it won't require them (it's an old setup, not marked as such).

Ok, the VanBasco player worked fine.
So Windows Media Player in this version 1511 seems not to work with VMS anymore :(
WMP says Error C00D11B1 in the webhelp (http://windows.microsoft.com/de-de/windows7/c00d11b1)...

Hmmm. Really strange.
Works fine on another Win 10 machine with WMP.
I would say something is broken with the default Midi output device.
What's the correct regitry entry in that drivers32 section for midi?

WMP has its own setting, available and enabled in VMS configurator.
The default (and minimal) content of registry keys is the following (paste it in a .reg file and import it using regedit.exe, or manually edit the registry):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "midi"="wdmaud.drv" "midi1"="VirtualMIDISynth\\VirtualMIDISynth.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "midi"="wdmaud.drv" "midi1"="VirtualMIDISynth\\VirtualMIDISynth.dll"
The Wow6432Node keys exist only on 64bit systems.
There should not exist any other midi* keys.

Thanks for that. Tried all.... no success. I guess something screwed up my registry.
So i decided to reinstall Win 10. Now all is working well again.
Thanks a lot for your support.

Restart from scratch sometimes is the best (and only) option ;)
