Re: New GM soundfont - "CompiFont"

Newest version of CompiFont is up; no clean guitar fix yet, as i am looking for a replacement, yet: a few corrections to volumes, new disto and overdrive guitar; partly from Musica 1.7 by Cose Vidal. Along with new version - new demo on Soundcloud. Enjoy!

Re: New GM soundfont - "CompiFont"

CompiFont went into new phase! Now it is TWO soundfonts instead of one!

What it brings?
1. Less RAM consumption - you can use only ORCHESTRAL part to playback orchestral midi pieces and REST for anything else!
2. You can now use Compifont's orchestra in <512MB devices [CompiOrchestral is only 453MB]
3. There is new Strings font that you HAVE to check out
4. There is alternative Piano at bank 000:000. For most of the pieces, especially for Orchestral/Lyrical pieces I highly recommend using ORCHESTRAL piano; for more "Cheeky" sounds you are welcome to use Piano from "REST"

Some of the drum samples seem to be a little quiet with BASSMIDI, but that may be a bug with BASSMIDI itself. I've reported it to Ian Luck, maybe he can tell us what's wrong, either with his software or your banks.

Great, feel free to post a link to your post on his forum so I can follow it and update included bassmidi.dll if needed.

BASSMIDI is usually updated in sync with xmp-midi.

Reported by Ian as issues with the SoundFont itself, such as lots of missing samples from the drum kits.

I have a few reports myself. I have a MIDI file, sr2_.mid, which uses high and mid conga drum, and one of the samples is playing a cymbal instead of conga drum.

I acknowledged the problem, and it seems that indeed it is within Soundfont itself. On my way to fixing it ASAP.

New link with (hopefully!) fixed drums. Thanks Kode54 for pointing this out. Including "old" CompifontORCHESTRAL just to avoid confusion.

Re: New GM soundfont - "CompiFont"

This time, the orchestral kit is a bit too quiet in this MIDI file:

Sorry about the files not being readable, maybe next time, I'll just upload them to this forum.

E: Another one, this time the saxophone seems to blend a little poorly around the upper octaves, unless this MIDI file is just asking a bit too much of the instrument:

E: Yet another one: from Duke Nukem 3D, the reverse cymbal seems either too quiet, or broken.

Re: New GM soundfont - "CompiFont"

Attenuation on Orchestra kit fixed. I need to test it out with the other midis to approve the change though so it will take few moments.

Considering your second file... F^3 or F6 is actually the top of Natural Sax abilities. IF you want to play higher than that, you can try reaching F#6 with a very specific technique... In your midi you reach just the highest note. I'd suggest making it an octave lower.
