That's a problem with the "bassmidi.dll" library that drives the VirtualMIDISynth synth. This also affects 1.13.0. An update was just released fixing this problem and should hopfully be used/ported for everyone in the next alpha and release.

Alpha13 has just been released.
Here's a list of new features:
v.2.0.0-alpha13 - 2015-04-29
- NEW: Gain can now be set for each soundfont, allowing quieter/louder soundfonts to play together.
- NEW: Virtual devices count is now a user configurable option, from 1 up to 4. Once changed, VirtualMIDISynth must be restarted to enable it.
- NEW: Dialogs can now be snapped to all active windows.
- NEW: Upgraded bassmidi.dll to version 2.4.9.8 that brings noticeable improvement in MIDI rendering efficiency with less CPU usage.
- NEW: Added a new "About" tab to configurator, with some runtime informations.
- NEW: A warning message is shown if the synth is closed with active clients.
- FIX: Fixed Options tab controls overlapping.

1. Black window/resize bug has hits again, it is a regression.
2. More weirdness, you know what I mean. ;-)
3. Volume control doesn't work below 100% :(
I just send VMS13 video report, have fun. :D

So far Alpha13 has been very good at my end. However, I'd like to mention that while the bassmidi.dlls have been updated in Alpha13, however it hasn't been updated in 1.13.1.

- fixed, it was a regression due to an update of the underlying Win32++ dialog library
- really can't reproduce it on my side, will mail you the details
- you mean that setting SF gain to a value < 100% doesn't work?
Could you please elaborate?
I pass that value to BASS_MIDI_FontSetVolume() function, will investigate.

- Great :)
- Yeah, this is realy weird... Maybe I have some more ideas how to reproduce that, this realy bothers me.
- Yes, SF gain, a value higher than 100% works
