There could be a PDF file causing an unespected behavior/hang when parsed.
You could try to parse your PDFs with the command-line version:
- install PDFPropertyExtension 1.7.0
- open a command prompt (no need for Admin rights)
- cd to the folder with PDFs
- run this command: PdfPropertyExtension.exe *.pdf
- it will start parsing all of your PDF files and (should) hang on one or more of them
If you find the file causing the issue, please attach it here (or post it through the contact form if you don't want it to be public)

I really needed to get the PDF data to display, and after seeing there is a new version, I decided to give it another try with version 1.8.1.
It's been running for a while now and none of the problems I experienced with the older version have reappeared, so this update might finally have done the trick!
PDF filenames display instantly now, just like they used to with older Windows. Thank you!
