PDFPropertyExtension only allows to show existing PDF metadata, it does not change the PDF file at all.
This will require rebuilding the whole PDF object tree, which is a much more complicated thing to do...

Thanks for reporting test results.
Will release version 1.8.3 that contains this fix (together with others).

Re: No values in Title, Author & Subject fields of Win 10 Windows Explorer

Good morning,

Thank you very much for investigating this issue for me and for supplying a beta install to test.  This worked perfectly - I'm now seeing the contents of the Title field in Windows Explorer without having to enter ".pdf" into the Search field.

This is such a big help; when I create the .pdf files I enter the client's name, the date of their project and the project ref# into the filename but have never had the capability of sorting all files by any of these attributes (only by whatever the filename starts with) so, by using a combination of BeCyPDFMetaEdit to define these meta data at the point I create the file and your utility to allow these meta data to be seen and therefore sorted, is absolutely fantastic.

Thank you very much again, you are an asset to the Windows 10 community - I adored Windows 7 but truly despise Windows 10, you have made it just that little bit more tolerable :)

All the best,

Jason.

Re: No values in Title, Author & Subject fields of Win 10 Windows Explorer

Thanks for the sample file, it was really helpful to find what's wrong.
That PDF file contains an updated Info table, probably created by BeCyPDFMetaEdit, and PDFPropertyExtension was reading the first one instead of the latest (more updated) one.

Attached you'll find version 1.8.3-beta2.
Please check it out and confirm if it works on you side too, so I'll publish an update.

UPDATE: attachment removed since official 1.8.3 version is now available for download.

[SOLVED] No values in Title, Author & Subject fields of Win 10 Windows Explorer

Hello,

I installed PDFPropertyExtension 1.8.2 today and, although the installation appears to have been successful, I'm not seeing values in the Title, Author or Subject fields within Windows Explorer on Win 10 for .pdf files where these have been defined.  I restarted my PC & reinstalled but this didn't make a difference.

I've attached an example .pdf file.  I created this in Excel 2016 by saving an Excel workbook as .pdf.  I then installed & used BeCyPDFMetaEdit to set the values of these Meta Data because I only have Adobe Reader.

If I open the .pdf into the latest version of Adobe Reader DC (2017.009.20044) and go to File | Properties I can see the values I setup: Title = "Title"; Author = "Author"; Subject = "Subject".

Also, if I type "pdf" into the Search field of Windows Explorer the Title column contains "Title" for the attached file (I found your tool from your reply in this Microsoft forum discussion).

One thing I noticed which is interesting is that if the Search field in Windows Explorer is blank (and the Title column is therefore blank), if I right-click the file and go to Properties | Details, the Title field is blank; if I type "pdf" into the Search field and return to the Details tab of the Properties dialog, the Title field contains "Title" - so the contents of the Properties dialog are inconsistent in the same way the main Windows Explorer window is.

From reading other posts in this [CoolSoft] discussion forum I see that you're happy to research individual cases.  Would you mind taking a look at the attached .pdf whenever you get an opportunity and seeing if you're able to get the values to show in these fields in Windows Explorer on Win 10 without having to type "pdf" into the Search field please?

Thank you in advance and regards,

Jason.
