Re: Win 10 installation issue

Thanks for your tests.
Since there will be non other releases on 2.3.x branch, you can keep that 2.3.2 setup file till 2.4.0 will be released.

It works! Thank you so much.

I've fixed some things and it seems to work properly on my test environment.

Could you please test it on your side and confirm that it works?

NOTE: I won't release a 2.3.x version with NSIS3. Switching to the new setup build tool change requires an greater VMS version change so first official VMS version with NSIS3 will be 2.4.0.

UPDATE: test setup attachment removed, bug fix will be integrated in next 2.4.0 release.

Yep, so it should be something NSIS does at startup.

Will try to "accelerate" the upgrade to NSIS 3.x, but can't promise anything...

I thought that was the case. As you can see, there is nothing in red.

It should word as it predecessor, i.e., it shows missing (and required) references in red in the left side tree.

Sadly there's no way to generate a report...

Re: Win 10 installation issue

Yes, I did open CoolSoft_VirtualMIDISynth_2.3.0.exe with Dependencies. I saw nothing that showed what was missing. Having said that, I am unfamiliar with this Dependencies version, so I have probably missed something. If you know what to look for and where to click, I'll check again. Also, if there is a way to export its findings, I would be glad to do that for you.

Re: Win 10 installation issue

Sorry to hear that.
I'll update my NSIS build tools in the future, but not soon (because it almost works, and 2.x --> 3.x could introduce a lot of unknown issues ;)).

Have you tried to open  CoolSoft_VirtualMIDISynth_2.3.0.exe with Dependencies?
I'd like to know what's missing...

Re: Win 10 installation issue

Very strange. I have other NSIS based installers that work fine.

For what it is worth, I have found a few other references to others having issues installing things on Windows 10 using NSIS installers. It appears to be related to the 2.x branch of NSIS. Version 3.01 is said to work, whereas 3.02 does not. I haven't investigated 3.03 (the latest version) to know if it has fixed the issue.

At this point I am going to say there is some combination of factors that keeps the installers from working on my system. I shall try to find an alternative to VMS.

Many thanks for all your assistance.
