VMS relies on LAME encoder to create MP3 files; this choice was done to let each program do its best... VMS for MIDI synthesis and LAME for MP3 encoding (and flac.exe for FLAC files...).
VMS drives its audio data to LAME standard input, and this program encodes it in an .mp3 file.
AFAIK there's no support for MP3-text in LAME but, even if it has, there's no way for VMS to output text data together with audio samples.
I don't know if there's a way to add text (or better timecoded-text) to an existing MP3, like we can do with video subtitles (.srt files).
If so, then there should be a way to extract lyrics data from .mid, convert them to .srt (or similar) format then merge it to MP3 🤔.

There is a method... is to extract from midi to Advanced .LRC, better known as "ADVANCED LRC", is different from "normal LRC" because normal LRC extracts and sync only line by line, instead Advanced LRC extracts and sync text as it's in the original midi, syllabes or words....
I'm searching some program that extracts... I found that project in java:
https://github.com/gilleswaeber/smf-to-lrc
But I' sure that already exists some other batch/java utility to extract lrc.. Please see if something is possible... Because the midi converted without text has no sense :)
Maybe there's something similar

Ok, but all of these tasks have to be done externally, since VMS has no access at all to .mp3.
It only sends uncompressed audio samples to the input of MP3 compressor (lame.exe), which produces the final compressed .mp3 file.

Sorry for the late reply, it's lately hard for me to have 60 minutes in a row to sit down and read thigs carefully 🙄.
About your question: I'm actually completing a huge rework to support HighDPI screens; it started as a quick fix, but ended being a huge lot of work (rewrote GDI+ drawing, added support to vectorial graphics to fit each resolution, ...).
See here for details.
After this completes I'd like to start working on a long-waited feature: command line support.
I'll add (almost) full command line support to VMS, which means you can start MIDI conversion from a Batch/PowerShell script, but also load/unload/enable/disable soundfont files, set mixer levels, close VMS, ...
With this feature you could easily call VMS to convert your MIDI to MP3 (to a given output filename), then do your "lyrics" injection after conversion completes.
Command line support will be some kind of basic API to let VMS be used by other softwares like yours.

Really happy to hear that: full command line for VMS/converter.
I think that will be higly appreciated by not only me but a lot of people that want to develop other stuff on/around VMS.
Have you an idea about the date of the first beta version?
Thank you.

Can't make any (honest) prediction right now.
2.12 is nearly out of beta, so this could be in the next one 😉.
