CoolSoft-VirtualMIDISynth vs. TiMidity++

Hello there.

I used Timidity before, but it had occasional problems (maybe due to greater hardware requirements) (TiMidity++ version 2.13.2).

Now I use CoolSoft's VirtualMIDISynth for 8 months and I'm very pleased with it.

Nevertheless Timidity has some good properties:
- possibility to convert midi to wav
- a bit better sound (maybe due to effects, filters)

See FAQ #10 here.
I don't know Timidity very well, so I don't know how the MIDI->wav conversion is implemented.
I mean, how does the user start/stop recording?
Since VirtualMIDISynth (and I suppose Timidity++ too) is a virtual MIDI device, there's non way to control it from the MIDI client application...

This is on my todo list, stay tuned.
