Playing MIDI files on USB connected MIDI devices

Hi,

I have 2 Yamaha MIDI capable pianos and 2 Yamaha MIDI multi-timbral tone generators that I have used for many years using the old "MPLAYER.exe" Windows executable that I've moved from older versions of Windows as I've upgraded computers.

Until sometime in the last year or so, I've been able to select my USB connected MIDI port (E-MU XMidiX1) in MPLAYER. It's no longer available and I'm wondering, after reading some posts about the VirtualMIDISynth software, if it would allow me to play through that device.

Thanks very much.

VirtualMIDISynth is a (virtual) device itself, so it won't allow you to play on another device.

You could try CoolSoft MIDIMapper for that, which replaces the now missing MIDIMapper on newer OSes.
You can find it here.
