Custom building/composing the soundfont on the go

Wish a feature!

This feature allows you to pick one or more presets in a soundfont. You can enable/disable each preset in a soundfont and arrange at your own those enabled presets.

This is for those of you who has more than 1 soundfont. Because one soundfont is only good at certain things, while the other soundfont is good for other things.

However, the custom soundfont may not be properly arranged according to the MIDI standard. Currently, the Select Preset and Bank only choose preset and choose bank. if that sf2 contains only 1 patch preset, coolsoft will place that patch according to the number. however, if sf2 has more than one preset, it will select that preset from the patch number and bank and enable that one only. Choosing "all preset" is not the solution!

Now, this cutomise on the go feature, allows you to select best preset you want them to get in.

You can turn on sf2 A, B, C, and D. You can enable some presets of the A, some of the B, some of the C, and one of the D.

After that, you can even place each preset you chose to another place, e.g. if the sf2's patch number of this instrument is placed wrongly and it was supposed to be there.

Therefore, you will have combined best experience.

BASS has no support to load more than one preset in the same soundfont instance.

Anyway it is already possible to load the same soundfont file more than once: in the first instance you can configure preset #1, in the second preset#5 and so on.
This should lead to the configuration you're trying to set, with the only "counterpart" of having soundfont list filled with more than one instance of the same SF2 file.

Cool! but while it is possible that way, it's tedious.

This is why. Everytime I do have to click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, click add, that sf2, 2x click, adjust, ok, etc.

What I suggest here, is that 2X window, has this interface:

  • The Soundfont information as usual
  • Tickbox of each patch and drag to custom number setting. You can enable/disable preset. You can set MSB, LSB, Program number of that preset to be put on other way.
  • usual setting beneath.

So by this, this reduce the clutter of the SF2 list like, there are the Same SF2 again bellow it, and too many and become clutter.

Speaking about BASS no support load more than 1 preset... Yeah I get it. These Number selectors right here. That's why has to be done in clutter like SF2 preset 1 only, preset 2 only, etc.

but if you can make it, wow, Amazing Awesome!!! just no need to rush ;)

Perhaps, we should compile, and frankenstein these SF2s altogether for private use. or could be public if all the SF2 license is allows edit, share, and other important permissive things.

Re: Custom building/composing the soundfont on the go

Update: Found lack of Preset redirection. This feature allows you to move preset to a different patch number.

This is important. Because some of the SF2 has their presets placed in non-MIDI standard way. Usually happened like this Nice Ultimate SF2 from https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/ .

Their arrangement are not standard, because the topic of instrument has alot of variations, author did not think to put it MSB after MSB, but rather just be like that without following guidelines.
