When I try to install this beta version, Symantec Endpoint Protection deletes the file, complaining about the presence of a heuristic virus (Heur.AdvML.B). What might cause this?

Have a look to VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/6dc418779418627c965ff519759bb5dc2ed1...
Only 3/64 detects it, so please consider it as a false positive.

Thank you, I just wanted to be certain.
I created two exceptions in SEP, because after installation it would detect the same problem in the installed executable. It's working now.

I also got the same Heur.AdvML.B error from another Symantec product, Norton LifeLock. How do I report Symantec that this is a false positive?

Good luck! Each vendor has its own procedure, that's why I've stopped reporting...
Check if you have an option into Symanteg GUI, or something within the AV Scan dialog.
There could be a link/button in the same dialog where it reports that the file is infected.
If you can't report it to the vendor, you should at least be able to add the file to a "local whitelist" and allow it to be run.
