I don't know Timidity very well, so I don't know how the MIDI->wav conversion is implemented.
I mean, how does the user start/stop recording?
Since VirtualMIDISynth (and I suppose Timidity++ too) is a virtual MIDI device, there's non way to control it from the MIDI client application...
