It seems that maybe it just needed two reboots after installing.
Oops.

Or maybe I didn't reboot the first time.
I'm getting a déjà vu feeling about this.

Well, that's weird.
Feel free to give further details, if any...

I'm having a possibly related issue with this new version.
After every reboot, the Windows Media Player default device in the MIDI Mapper tab is always reset to Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Also, if I force a reinstall of VMS 2.7.0, both default devices are automatically set to Microsoft GS.

Actually a "reinstallation" is a uninstall+install, so the uninstall will reset MIDIMapper setting even if it will be followed by a reinstall.
Will change it in next version.
Anyway the after-reboot issue seems unrelated.
VMS does nothing at reboot (other than automaticaly start if configured to) and it only checks for driver config at start; any action is eventually done after user confirmation.
Could you please reinstall version 2.6.0 (still available for download) and confirm that 2.7.0 is the issue?

I'll check again but I'm pretty certain 2.6.0 didn't reset the WMP device between sessions.

Quick follow-up on my reboot issue.
My prefered WMP device kept being reset to the MS GS synth after every reboot/log-off. The problem was apparently fixed when I clicked on Apply first instead of OK (MIDI Mapper tab), then quitted and restarted VMS. I noted that my prefered device was now selected. I then tried a few reboots and the setting seems to hold up.

I never really found out what was going on but when I upgraded to 2.7.1 it seemed to work correctly.
